3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

Most important hazard : Corrosive and caustic. Causes severe injuries in case of contact with skin, eyes, dust inhalation or ingestion.
Specific hazard : Will cause deep ulceration with subsequent scarring. DO NOT MIX WITH ANY OTHER CHEMICALS. Must not be used on Galvanised, Zinc, Aluminium or Acrylic surfaces.
4. FIRST AID MEASURES
Inhalation : Symptom: Severe irritation of airways. Treatment: Remove from exposure, rest and keep warm. In severe cases or if recovery is not rapid or complete SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION.
EYE CONTACT : Symptom: Pain, reddening, watering. Treatment: Irrigate thoroughly with water for at least 10 minutes. If irritation persists SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION.
SKIN CONTACT : Symptom: Irritation, blistering. Treatment: Drench the skin with plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use. If large area of skin is damaged or if irritation persists SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION.
INGESTION : Symptom: Stomach upset, burns to the Gastroinestinal tract. Treatment: Wash out mouth with water. DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. If patient is conscious, give plenty of water to drink. If patient feels unwell SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION.
5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA : Use extinguisher suitable to cause of fire. Do not use water jet..
SPECIAL MEASURES : Avoid vapour inhalation. Wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus & protective clothing.
HAZARDOUS PRODUCTS : Non-flammable. Can react with some metals generating hydrogen gas.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS : Avoid breathing the vapour. Wear appropriate PPE (section 8).
ENVIRONMENT PRECAUTIONS : Keep away from drains, soil, surface & groundwaters.
CLEANING UP METHODS : Where possible, transfer to a suitable container for re-use or waste- disposal. Dissolve residue with plenty of water and cautiously neutralize with a weak acid solution then flush to drain with plenty of water.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

PRECAUTIONS IN HANDLING : Good general ventilation. LEV may be required in dusty environments. Use only materials resistant to strong alkali. Avoid direct contact with the product. Avoid inhalation of dust. Keep containers tightly closed.
STORAGE CONDITIONS : Store in tightly closed original container, in a cool & dry area.

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY
Stability  : Stable, absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide.
KNOWN HAZARDOUS REACTION : Evolves hydrogen in contact with aluminium and zinc. Can react violently with acids and chlorinated hydrocarbons. 
Conditions to Avoid  : Excessive humidity.

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
INHALATION  : Inhalation may result in severe burns to respiratory tract. 
SKIN : Skin contact may result in severe burns with permanent damage which are slow to heal. 
EYES : Eye contact may result in severe burns causing permanent eye damage. 
INGESTION  : Ingestion may result in perforation of digestion tract. Haemorrhage and severe burns to mouth and throat. 
12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
MOBILITY : Hygroscopic and very soluble. 
DEGRADABILITY : Can cause long term adverse effects to the aquatic environment. High pH values and sodium content has potential to damage soil Structure.
AQUATIC TOXICITY : Highly toxic to aquatic organism due to high pH.
13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS

Do not pour into drains or dispose of indiscriminately. Obtain the services of a waste disposal contractor and send to a registered tip or burn under controlled conditions in a suitable incinerator.
